When calls aren't being picked up, the cause is almost always one of three things — your receptionist status is Inactive, your phone number isn't connected, or your business hours are configured to closed.
Walk through the fix
- 1Open the Overview page in your dashboard and confirm your receptionist status shows Active. If it shows Inactive, head to Receptionist Settings → Overview and finish any remaining setup steps.
- 2Open Receptionist Settings → Configuration and confirm your business phone number is shown correctly in the configuration sidebar.
- 3Open Receptionist Settings → Business Hours. If today is set to closed, the AI will not answer — flip today to open and save.
- 4If you're forwarding an existing number to Zevaux, confirm call forwarding is still active with your carrier. Forwarding sometimes resets after a phone change or update.
Test the fix by calling your Zevaux business number from a different phone. You should hear the AI greeting within two rings.
